OpenAI's Race to Reason with 5-tier System 🪜

OpenAI has introduced a five-level scale to track progress towards artificial general intelligence (AGI), ranging from chatbots to AI systems capable of running entire organizations. The company reports nearing level two on their scale, which represents AI systems with human-level problem-solving abilities, a significant step beyond current conversational AI.

AGI Ambitions: Experts highlight the significant implications of AI systems capable of reasoning, including potential workforce disruption and the ability to draw unexpected conclusions. OpenAI's scale reflects CEO Sam Altman's goal of achieving AGI by the end of the decade, amid intense competition in the AI industry. This timeline has ignited a fierce race in the AI industry, with billions of dollars being invested in the pursuit of this transformative technology. The scale serves as a roadmap for OpenAI's journey towards AGI, providing milestones and benchmarks for their progress in this high-stakes competition.

AI Progress Reality Check:

Despite the excitement, some experts express skepticism about the scale and the feasibility of achieving higher levels of AI intelligence. Hannah Kirk from the University of Oxford points out that true organizational-level AI would require more than just reasoning capabilities, emphasizing the importance of coordination and social intelligence. This skepticism highlights the complex nature of human-like intelligence and the challenges that lie ahead in replicating it artificially. The debate surrounding the scale's validity adds an intriguing layer to the ongoing discourse about the future of AI and the realistic timeline for achieving AGI. Read more

Tutorial: How to create simple apps with text prompts 👨‍💻

Marblism was released during the winter Y-Combinator 2024 batch. It can help you turn base-level code into a fully functioning website. Here’s how:

  • Go to Marblism’s website and log in with your account. You will get credits to build your AI app.

  • Now write a text prompt describing the app you want to build. I used the following prompt:

‘A professional social media platform like LinkedIn’

  • Enter project name, type, and description. You can choose the app theme too.

  • You will be redirected to a page where you can see the app description and the different pages it contains. You can add new pages with the Add page button at the bottom.

  • Click on Next and you’ll see AI-generated database tables. You can edit tables by clicking on the Change Something button at the bottom.

  • You’ll have to wait a few minutes for your app to generate.

  • Click on Launch Workspace and then click on Go to your Workspace.

  • Marblism will generate a basic version of your app. You can preview the app, modify it, add mock-ups, or download the code for future uses.

LinkedIn's Accelerate Redefines B2B Ads 🚀

LinkedIn is set to globally launch Accelerate, its AI-powered campaign tool, by early fall 2023. This tool, which has been in beta testing since October 2022, represents LinkedIn's significant investment in AI technology for digital marketing.

Accelerate aims to dramatically reduce campaign creation time from 15 hours to just 5 minutes. The tool uses AI to analyze websites, LinkedIn pages, and previous ad accounts to recommend comprehensive campaigns, including targeting, creative, and optimization strategies.

How Accelerate Works? Advertisers simply input a product URL, and Accelerate uses AI to analyze relevant data and build creatives and target audiences. The tool also integrates Microsoft Designer functionality, allowing for further refinement of creatives and targeting parameters.

Challenges and Adoption: While some advertisers are seeing positive results, others are cautious about adoption. Concerns include initial restrictions on campaign objectives and targeting, as well as the tool's suitability for highly niche B2B targeting needs.
