Yann LeCun, Chief Scientist at Meta, presents a contrarian viewpoint challenging Generative AI’s status quo while Meta rolls out Llama for its WhatsApp and Instagram users. Yann’s assertions came recently during his keynote at Meta AI day, where he offered a candid critique of generative AI’s limitations and how a shift to objective-driven AI was the need of the hour. Yann believes the current AI tools’ capabilities are in narrow domains lacking the genuine ability to understand context or engage with physical world leading to outputs which are devoid of factual accuracy or common-sense understanding. Amazon CEO Jassy Says Generative AI Boom Will Be Built On AWS

Earlier this year, Amazon began cutting hundreds of jobs in its Amazon Web Services division but Amazon’s CEO Andy Jassy believes AWS is going to be an essential part of the generative artificial intelligence boom. In his annual letter to shareholders, Jassy mentioned that while they were building a substantial number of GenAI applications themselves, the vast majority of it will ultimately be built by other companies using their infrastructure. US and Japan announce sweeping AI and tech collaboration

ChatGPT Hallucinates Fake But Plausible Scientific Citations

As per a recent study published in the Canadian Psychological Association’s Mind Pad, researchers found “false citations” across various psychology subfields, rates of which ranging from 6% to 60%. But the interesting observation around this still remains that these “false” citations often featured elements such as legitimate researchers’ names and properly formatted digital object identifiers(DOIs), which could easily mislead both students as well as researchers.
